Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Wellness Testing:  At Animal Hospital at Brier Creek, we believe that preventative care is the most important.  With inexpensive wellness blood, urine, and fecal testing, we can catch problems before they become problematic.  That way, we can ensure your beloved pet stays healthy and happy for a very long time.

Tailored Vaccinations:  We tailor our vaccination protocols to fit your pet's needs.  Each pet needs to be assessed as an individual and have his or her vaccination program tailored to their individual needs.  We use the AAHA vaccination guidelines as our guide to your pet's vaccinations.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.  All pets that undergo anesthesia, have an IV catheter in place through which intravenous fluids are given to lessen the side effects of anesthesia.  In addition, all pets are monitored by trained veterinary nurses with an EKG, blood pressure, pulse oximeter (monitors oxygen in the blood), capnometer (monitors carbon dioxide in the blood), and core body temperature.  All patients under anesthesia have warm IV fluids and a warm water blanket to keept their body temperature up.  IN addition, pre-operative bloodwork is mandatory to make anesthesia the safest possible.

Orthopedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon Consults: We offer in-hospital referrals to a boarded surgeon specialist who performs the most complex of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries without the need for the pet to leave the hospital.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.  We also have the capability to transfer radiographs quickly to specialists if the need arrises because of our digital radiography which allows radiographs to be emailed at the touch of a button.

Ultrasound Services:  You pet can receive an ultrasound from a boarded radiologist without ever leaving the clinic.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.  Our IM3 ultrasonic scaler is state of the art and offers the best, safest cleaning for your pet.  All pets receive a complete dental scaling with an ultrasonic scaler, hand scaling below the gumline, and ultrasonic polishing.  In addition, an OraVet Sealant is placed on the teeth after the anesthesia to seal the teeth for 2 weeks and prevent plaque formation.  Our digital dental radiography offers high quality radiographs of your pet's teeth with minimal additional time under anesthesia.  We are truly happy to have dental radiography, which most hospitals do not have.  We have found many abnormal teeth that require oral surgery and specialized treatments that could not be found otherwise and our patients are so happy to be free of painful teeth.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification, with the AKC microchip.  We also register your pet's microchip online before you leave the clinic without any additional cost to you.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.  We also have My Vet Direct available on our website (see the home page) so you can order the same items we have in house from the same distributor we order them from delivered conveniently to your house.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, separation anxiety, and aggression for both cats and dogs.

Puppy Training:  We offer tons of information to help guide your new puppy into being the ideal dog.  We also offer puppy kindergarten classes for more information, puppy socialization and basic training.  We have referrals to dog trainers available to further their training.
