Dr.
Jennifer Goetz graduated from North Carolina State University, College of
Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She had been working in the veterinary field since
high school and has had a profound love for animals and people who love animals
her entire life. She completed an internship in Small Animal Surgery and
Internal Medicine at Metroplex Veterinary Hospital in Irving, Texas in 1998,
which is not a requirement to become a veterinarian. This internship included
rigorous training in emergency medicine, complex internal medicine cases
(including but not limited to cardiology, nephrology, neurology, and
gastroenterology), radiology experience, experience with routine and complex
surgical cases, and dermatology and ophthalmology rotations as
well.
Jennifer Goetz has lived in the Raleigh area since graduating undergraduate school from the University of Delaware, College of Agriculture (degree in Animal Science with Distinction (an undergraduate research/thesis degree) and minors in Biology and Chemistry) in 1992. She graduated in the top five percent of both her undergraduate and veterinary classes. She was the president of the Student Chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners for a year during veterinary school. After her internship, she came back to Raleigh and did some relief work before coming to Bowman Animal Hospital and working there for seven years. Finally, she decided, "Why not have a baby and start my own veterinary practice?" So, she did and Animal Hospital at Brier Creek was borne. Her vision is to create a place where staff and clients can be treated like family and can receive all the education and help and patience that they need and deserve. Of course, she also wanted someone where the pets could receive extra love and attention (sometimes, she admits, too much). Also, being able to practice state of the art veterinary medicine with the best equipment and medications and techniques is part of that vision as well.
Jennifer Goetz's family includes: her husband, her two year old daughter, her 50# boxer mix dog, two 10# Peke/ShihTzu/Pomeranian/Poodle (?) mixes, eight cats, and one hospital cat (Squeeky- the oldest at 17 years old). Of course, her family at Animal Hospital at Brier Creek is very important to her- her staff, clients, and patients!!
